In Norse Mythology, Fenrir (meaning "fen-dweller") is a monstrous wolf. Fenrir is the father of the wolves Sköll and Hati Hróðvitnisson, is a son of Loki, and the brother of Hel and Jörmungandr, and is foretold to kill the god Odin during the events of Ragnarök, but will in turn be killed by Odin's son Viðarr. The Aesir bound Fenrir using Gleipnir, a magic bound made from the sound of a cat's footfall, the beard of a woman, the roots of a mountain, the sinews of a bear, the breath of a fish, and the spittle of a bird. As he was bound, Fenrir bit off the right hand of the god Týr.
